Analysis of Sustainable Development Concept in Aspect of Geotourism Pillars at Kebumen Geopark
Abstrak
Kebumen Geopark is a geotourism area with various potentials and is located in Kebumen Regency, Central Java, Indonesia. Currently, Kebumen Geopark is one of the candidates for UNESCO Global Geopark (UGG). The geological diversity of Kebumen, especially Karangsambung, is very important because it is the meeting place of two plates, namely the Indian Ocean-Australian plate and the Eurasian plate. When these two plates meet, a collision occurs which shoots upwards, so that the mixture of rocks that is formed is the most complete rock in Southeast Asia. With the completeness of the rocks it has, Geoparak Karangsambung has the potential for development in various sectors. The development carried out by the Kebumen geopark takes into account three important components, namely conservation, education, and local environmental geotourism. To support this, the concept of sustainable development in the geotourism aspect is one of the main focuses in developing this geopark area. This study aims to analyze the success of the concept of sustainable development in the geotourism aspect in the Kebumen Geopark. The research method used in this study is a qualitative analysis method. The data collection procedure was carried out using an integrated literature study from existing and relevant scientific sources as well as satellite image observations. The results of the analysis of this study show that the geotourism aspect of the Kebumen Geopark also greatly influences the development of socio-cultural and economic activities of the people of Kebumen City. So, it can be concluded that the Kebumen Geopark in the future can fulfill the concept of sustainable development and is worthy of being designated as a UGG member.
